David Cranston is emeritus Professor of Surgery at Oxford University, specialising in urology. He was clinical director of the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound Unit in Oxford which, with colleagues in the UK and China, researches into a novel way of treating cancer without surgery. He has co-supervised 20 research fellows for higher degrees. He was elected a governing body Fellow of Green Templeton College in 2006, and in 2007 he was involved with a colleague in founding the UCare charity to raise money for urological research and education.
He is an author on over 100 peer reviewed publications and 18 book chapters, and recently published two books; John Radcliffe and his Legacy to Oxford for the 300th anniversary of the death of John Radcliffe, one of Oxford’s greatest benefactors, and On Eagle’s Wings: Models in Mentoring.
